It can be said that one of the main concerns of commercial complex builders is allocating large and expansive spaces to food courts to attract more people and create vitality and liveliness. On the other hand, the term food hall, which is used as a synonym for food court in some countries, has more or less confused the manufacturers and investors. Therefore, this text attempts to explain the meaning of each of these terms and their differences.

In 1962, the Roos Company hired Gordon Peck to develop a mall called Besher Way Garden in Toronto. Gordon Peck was interested in establishing a grocery store that had originally been established in a popular Beverly Hills mall.
The store had several restaurants, each with its own seating area, separated by a fence, so if a family ordered food from two different restaurants, they couldn’t sit together. The space of the restaurants in this market led to the idea of creating restaurants with a common seating area.
In this way, each restaurant rents its own space and part of the common space.

Finally, in February 1971, Sherway Garden opened with 16 restaurants and 32,000 square meters of common restaurant space, and the modern-style food court was born, and by the 1990s, this space had become one of the main parts of shopping malls and part of the food culture.
On the other hand, the food hall has older roots and dates back to the late 18th and early 19th centuries in England, to a tea shop that had created a space in front of its shop to sit and have tea and snacks. However, the modern concept of the food hall dates back to 2007, with the opening of Eataly on the site of an old factory in Italy, which was born as an integrated dining hall offering very good quality and unique food.

Food hall, like food court, has a wide common space, so that in some Asian and Pacific countries, these two concepts are used interchangeably, but the nature of these two concepts is different from each other, and here are some of these differences:

1- Food courts are basically defined and envisaged in shopping malls, but food halls can be developed anywhere, which means that a food court is not defined anywhere outside of shopping malls, but the nature of a food hall is not dependent on the shopping mall.

2- The food stalls of a food hall are under unified management or ownership, while in a food court different brands may operate under separate management.

3- Food halls offer more local and better quality food, while food courts often feature branches of fast food chains.

4- Food courts only sell food, but food halls, especially basic food halls, also sell groceries and agricultural products alongside local foods.

Therefore, considering the above, and in short, in a food hall, more time and sometimes more money is spent on a meal. They may be established in a location outside of commercial and entertainment complexes, and they may offer agricultural products and organic foods.
While a food court is definitely located in a shopping mall, it contains a variety of restaurants, generally fast food, that serve as a refueling and relaxation station alongside shopping.

["post-8152","glossary","type-glossary","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
